Meditation practitioner Ernest Ivan shares his life-changing experiences in a Chinese monastic living program called the Wooden Fish Project where students from all over the world seclude themselves for a month studying Buddhism and practicing meditation.

Cory and Ivan describe in detail the daily rituals of students in the program and the accommodations available in the separate monasteries in which they stayed. Stories arise about some of the unique personalities they encountered in their travels, and they make recommendations on some of the ways newcomers might immerse themselves in this type of monastic living experience abroad.
